Past and Present

JP Exhausts was founded over 30 years ago by John Parker, hence the "JP". The business started purely on the retail side as agents for "Nocorrode","Bugle" and "Grundy", the three largest manufacturers from the early days of stainless steel exhausts - although none of them are still in business. Bugle made their exhausts from spirally wound stainless strip (like flue lining) with expanded sections which enclosed the silencers, the whole system was extremely light and the tube section could be bent over the knee. We still see the occasional car in our works with this type of exhaust still working perfectly satisfactorily.

John Parker felt that the future of business was at the quality end of the market and gradually managed to buy or make the conventional manufacturing plant. In the early days tubes were bent with a manual tube bender capable of 20 bends per day. Over the years we have invested in 3 automatic benders with a capability of over 500 bends per day.

Staff

We employ 19 members of staff - 3 members of staff have worked here for over 17 years and a further 4 for over 10. 4 members of staff have carried out "Institute of Manufacturing" training.

We have 2 apprentices (Tom in his third year and James about to start). There are 2 Slovakian, I Czech, and 1 Gambian metalworkers.

Clare and Elaine run our busy office.

Rick (Deputy MD) - Production Manager

Jim - Purchasing Manager

And of course John Parker (JP) is still nominally "the boss" but is now being pushed around by the young upstarts!
